The James Brown Wildlife Rescue Center Foundation (Fundación Centro de Rescate James Brown) rescues, treats and rehabilitates wild animals in Ecuador, then releases them into the forest around the center. Many arrive injured or taken for the illegal pet trade, among them ocelots, sloths, owls, eagles and turtles. Its team, led by Placido Salvador, follows animals after release and is building a neonatal intensive care unit for rescued young animals, a service the region does not yet have.
