The Biodiversity Group (“TBG”, “we”, “us”) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit conservation organization based in Tucson, Arizona. This policy explains what information we collect through biodiversitygroup.org, why we collect it, and what choices you have.

Information you give us

Donations. When you donate we collect your name, email address, postal address and donation amount. Card details are entered directly into our payment processor and are never stored on our servers.

Forms and email. If you contact us, apply for a program, or subscribe to our newsletter, we collect the details you submit — typically your name, email address and your message.

Shop orders. If you buy merchandise we collect the information needed to fulfill and ship your order.

Live chat. If you use the chat widget, the conversation and any contact details you provide are collected.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites we record standard technical data — IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, and referring site — using cookies and similar technologies. We use this to understand how the site is used and to keep it secure.

How we use your information

To process donations and orders and send receipts; to reply to inquiries; to send newsletters and updates you have asked for; to understand and improve how the site performs; to keep the site secure and prevent abuse; and to meet our legal, accounting and reporting obligations as a non-profit.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.

Who we share it with

We share information only with service providers who help us operate, and only to the extent needed: our payment processor for donations and orders, our email delivery provider for receipts and newsletters, our website host, and analytics and security providers. These providers are bound to handle your data on our instructions.

We may also disclose information where required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of TBG, our staff or the public.

Cookies

We use cookies that are necessary for the site to function, and — with your consent — analytics cookies that help us understand usage. You can manage your choices through the cookie banner, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some parts of the site may not work properly if you do.

How long we keep it

Donation and order records are retained as long as required for tax, accounting and audit purposes. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Inquiries are kept only as long as needed to deal with them and keep a reasonable record.

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe from any email using the link in that email. You may ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA, including the right to object to certain processing. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of in that respect.

To make a request, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before we act.

Children

Our site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and restricted staff access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Links to other sites

Our site links to other organizations and platforms. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices, and we encourage you to read their policies.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
