Jo is an artist and educator who harnesses biology, art and youth to help preserve biodiversity. She has been teaching art and science to various ages of youths, in various capacities and places, for over 20 years. In addition to developing and leading the Biodiversity PEEK citizen-science program for TBG, Jo is personally involved with her own wild, underdog endeavors such as a social art project and children’s book to help save the endangered longfin eel of New Zealand. Jo’s favorite early memory was having her dad strap her in her stroller by the base of a maple tree to sit for hours watching a cicada emerge from its skin, fill with color, and fly away.
